“At the Last Supper, on the night he was betrayed, our Saviour instituted the Eucharistic sacrifice of his Body and Blood. This he did in order to perpetuate the sacrifice of the cross throughout the ages until he should come again, and so to entrust to his beloved Spouse, the Church, a memorial of his death and resurrection: a sacrament of love, a sign of unity, a bond of charity, a Paschal banquet ‘in which Christ is consumed, the mind is filled with grace, and a pledge of future glory is given to us.’
First Reconciliation & First Holy Communion
To register for the next preparation programme here at St Augustine, children must be at least in school Year 3 for Reconciliation and Year 4 for First Holy Communion and attending Mass in this parish regularly.
If your child does not attend a Catholic school, he/she should attend classes here at the church for religious instruction for several weeks prior to registering either for Renunciation or for the First Holy Communion programme. The Parish will inform you through the weekly bulletin or through website or in Facebook.
Preparation for Sacraments 2021-2022.
Parents may be getting anxious as the preparation programmes for reconciliation and for First Holy Communion and Confirmation for receiving the Sacraments in 2021-2022 have not started yet. Please be assured that as soon as the restrictions on use of the church have been lifted, we will let you know through the parish website or newsletter and will be asking you to complete Application Forms prior to starting the sessions. The Sacraments will be taking place at a later time in the school year from September onwards. For your information, we will not be starting the sessions via Zoom meetings or online learning. Most probably all will be face to face lesson for the future. Hopefully we will be able to proceed before long. Many thanks for your understanding and patience.
Please keep an eye on the newsletter for further announcements
